Before the 340 there was the 273. These were available in Darts, Chargers, and Barracudas as well as other models. This one came to the shop for a stock rebuild. Most came with a two barrel carburetor but this one has a four barrel manifold. We swapped the Carter AFB 480 for a Edelbrock 600. These engines made 180 HP and we got this one to 218 HP and 243 TQ.  Back in the day you could order a Power Pak option which had 10.5:1 domed pistons, bigger solid lift cam, and a dual point distributor. These made 235 HP and 280 TQ with the free-flowing SINGLE EXHAUST!!!
